To SCA members and prospective members:

The Society for Creative Anachronism is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our “Known World” consists of 20 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more.

The SCA is a place where you don’t just watch – you participate! Every person plays a part in creating the the atmosphere and participates in whatever activities and studies they find interesting. For some this means making period clothing. For others it means learning calligraphy, armored combat, fencing, archery, dancing or countless other activities that interest them.

Members of the SCA study and take part in a variety of activities, including combat, archery, equestrian activities, costuming, cooking, metalwork, woodworking, music, dance, calligraphy, fiber arts, and much more. If it was done in the Middle Ages or Renaissance, odds are you’ll find someone in the SCA interested in recreating it.
